DESCRIPTION: Boston Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., "Dennison, Howard, & Davis", 18 size, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and undersprung cut bimetallic balance, in a coin silver, engraved, reeded edge hunting case, Roman numeral white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #3348, c1855.
CONDITION: CASE: Shallow dents; Ding, band/ front cover at 6:00; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Engraving with moderate wear; Front cover lift spring a bit weak; Small gap between band and front cover at hinge when closed; Bow replaced; Pusher cap missing; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Faint hairline, 3:00- 11:00; Chip in enamel at edge, 11:00; Flake in enamel at edge, 6:30. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Plate with dings and scratches at case screw; Fine scratches on plate; Tiny spot of oxide and short scuff on barrel bridge; Barrel cover with scratches; Case scew, balance cock screw and barrel bridge screw are incorrect replacements; Balance jewel screw with ground and marred head; minor oxide on balance stud and regulator. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) ; Balance needs truing.
